Going forward, Goji will not be issuing any further bonds in order to allow us to focus on our platform technology services. Our Diversified Lending Bond has outperformed our target net return of 5% on all matured bonds to date and performance in our live bonds is also currently above this target. If you have an investment with us we will manage it to maturity and the Investment Management team will continue to focus on outperforming our target return. “When there are questions, it’s time to start thinking of answers. This is the culture of a lot of Finance teams, but we are building something unique and always strive to prepare in advance.”

How long have you been with Goji? What is your role on your team?

I joined Goji in September 2019 as a Finance and People Executive. My work mainly involves monitoring financial operations within the company, producing financial reports, developing and improving company-wide KPI dashboards, designing and implementing controls and procedures and working closely with our auditors. Global businesses and finance teams sometimes struggle to automate and streamline processes, and this is what excites me about Goji as this is at the forefront of our minds.

What initially interested you about Goji? What do you enjoy about working here?

Being curious, my desire to keep improving and my genuine interest in FinTech were big drivers of my decision to join Goji. Having previously worked with another start-up, I wanted to find a company that was building something disruptive and be part of a team where people help each other grow.

You need to seek discomfort and continuously be outside of your comfort zone to learn quickly, and this is exactly why I like the fun, fast-paced environment we have at Goji.

What are some of the hidden (or obvious) challenges in the alternative investment landscape that people may not think about? What are the most exciting opportunities to address them?

Institutional and high-net-worth individual investors have realised for many years that alternative investments have a higher return potential than equities. However, alternative investments are difficult to access and require greater in-depth knowledge to understand and evaluate each opportunity.

Goji is trying to solve this access issue, helping investors to diversify their investments and find high returns.

Give us the inside scoop – what are some of the unique aspects of working at Goji?

Goji really strives for inclusivity. Silly games during socials, regular company-wide lunches – either on Zoom or in the office before Covid became a thing – and the usual Friday late afternoon drinks.

Not only do we have a shared passion for what we do, we are even happy to work out together – whether in a gym or doing yoga exercises on Zoom!

What was your dream job as a child and what has your journey been like to arrive where you are today?

Like many kids, I wanted to be a footballer. Little did I know that it’s one thing to love the game and completely different to be able to play it.

Having studied Math and Computer Science in high school, I then went to university and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Accounting and Finance. Lost and figuring out what I wanted to do, I went to work for a large company before jumping to a start-up where my passion for a fast-paced environment began.

With my competitive drive and interest in Finance, it was easy then to find out that I wanted to be part of the FinTech movement and join a company with a disruptive mission.

What would you do if you had unlimited free time?

Play sports, go on hikes and travel the world. One of my lifetime goals is to visit as many countries as possible, live in a few places around the globe and speak 6+ languages.

You need the little hobbies and things you do daily, so playing the guitar, doing photography, reading a good book and journaling every day surrounded by friends would be a dream come true.

Any fun projects on the horizon? What are you and your team up to next?

Our accounting year-end will come soon which means we will be entering a fun period of conversations with Goji’s external accountants and auditors. Before that, we will be designing and automating as many processes to allow us to make decisions quickly while working with ever more complex clients.
